You’d never know it from this blog, but I have several interesting gardening projects going on, both my own and collaborative. Here’s one that I have to say more about:

Natural Dye Plant garden: This is located at the Phoenix Garden, and is a collaboration with a textile designer named Patricia Rogers. It features Japanese indigo and perennial hibiscus plants that Patricia grew from seed, along with seeded patches of dyers coreopsis, cosmos, tagetes, calendula, zinnias, and dahlias. Yes, most all of these are best known as ornamental flowers. I never knew they had a history of any other use besides providing a bit of color and interest.
